HISTORY
OF THE CAMPOBELLO PUBLIC LIBRARY AND MUSEUM
The
Campobello Public Library and Museum is a 116 year old Heritage
to the History and Culture of Campobello Island. Standing stately on it's
origional location in the quiet vilage of Welshpool and looking out over the
pristeen waters of Friars Bay, bathed in history , it provides
an entryway
to memories of bygone days and is a must to visit, while on Campobello.
The present building was constructed in 1898 and the room presently used
for Museum - Art Gallery was added in 1899. With the help
of an Island
Centenial Project a Children's Room was also added in 1967.

During the years from 1982 through 1989 the Library - Museum was lovingly
resrored by the people of Campobello Island. The Library joined the
regional system in 1974.
Browse through the many links to the past, such as the "Owen Carriage" or
sit at the dinning room table, once was owned and used by Captain William
Owen himself. The pictures and paintings, clothing and much more will
transport you back into the early history of Campobello.

questions.
Donations to the
"Friends of the Campobello Library Club" are
gratefully accepted to futher on going renovation and restoration
projects at the Library.
